Well, today was an adventure to say the least!
Our flight was scheduled to leave Oklahoma City at 11am this
morning. Shortly after arriving to the airport, we learned that our flight had
already been delayed by 45 minutes. No big deal, it was just 45 minutes … and
our layover in Detroit was WAY too long anyway!
After a few hours of waiting around and trying to control
all of our excitement, our zone was finally called to board the plane! After
finding our seats, stowing our luggage in the overhead bins, and getting acquainted
with the passengers next to us, the captain came on the intercom and informed us
that there was a maintenance issue with the cabin door. Of course, our captain
apologized for the delay and said we would have the problem fixed in no time …
LIES! After an hour, all passengers were asked to deplane with a promise to
help all passengers with connecting flights find other arrangements.
After Mishana’s hour on the phone with travel agents and
insurance companies and my discussion with the front counter … our flight was
bumped to tomorrow (June 2nd). Fortunately, our airline put us up in
a wonderful hotel where we have spent the last few hours watching classic
Disney movies. I never knew how exhausting it was to rearrange flight plans …
regardless, we are very thankful that we aren’t spending the night in an airport
terminal!
Yes, we are disappointed that we aren’t on our way. BUT we
know that God’s hand of protection is over us. There is a reason why our flight
did not go out today … probably teaching us to be flexible (a lesson that we
both need to learn!)
If you are reading this, thank you for your love, support,
and prayers!
